Ever since the original Gojira debuted in Japan in 1954, followed by 1956’s even more successful international cut, Godzilla King of the Monsters, the giant radioactive lizard has been a going concern for 70 years. And one thing that director Ishiro Honda, FX wizard Eiji Tsuburaya, and screenwriter Shinichi Sekizawa quickly discovered was that as enjoyable as the Big G was on his own, he was even more entertaining when tangling with another oversized mutant, creature, or Interstellar menace.

In fact, after his second feature, 1955’s Godzilla Raids Again, where he was pitted against his soon-to-be-ally Anguirus, audiences have thrilled to the rumble, tumble, and sometimes bumble of seeing two or more goliaths pounding each other and the surrounding landscape into oblivion.

Join AC and his fantastic panel of guests (Tim Palace, Stan Hyde, Eli LaChance, and Jef and Al Burnham) as we celebrate a "Godzilla vs." film from each decade the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, each celebrating a significant anniversary.

We kick things off with one of Godzilla's most enduring and popular opponents, Ghidorah The Three-Headed Monster, which first made its big screen bow in 1964, 60 years ago, which also saw the return of Rodan and Mothra as part of the monster mash.

10 years later, in 1974, we had a winning combination of cybernetics and simian antics with Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, pitting our favorite big green guy against a robotic version of himself, with the rambunctious god monster King Caesar thrown into the mix.

We flash forward to 1989, the first sequel of the Hesei series, after Godzilla had been reawakened following his decade-long slumber, with Godzilla versus Biollante, a magnificent rose/monster created from Godzilla DNA.

Five years later, the Big G was back, going up against an intergalactic doppelganger, the crystal-adorned Space Godzilla, an entry that also featured Godzilla’s oft-maligned offspring, Minya, aka Little Godzilla.

Finally, in 2004, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Godzilla's incarnation, future director of The Midnight Meat Train Rhueyei Kitamura gave us a slam dunk collage with Godzilla: Final Wars, which mixmastered The Matrix, X-Men, and Kaiju Craziness, culminating in a franchise finale for the ages.

But, as we've seen time and time again, you can't keep a good lizard down. The Big G will always reign, and we'll be there to see him do his thing, against one, against many. G-Force Unite!!!
