  1. Ah, the It's Alive remake. That's one of those things -- like the Sisters remake from a couple years back -- that I can completely forget about until I see some reminder of its existence. Is there a seminal horror film from the '70s that hasn't been through the remake mill yet?

  2. Honestly, if it had not been the uber-annoying Bijou Philips in the lead and the baby hadn't been pulling a jekyll/hyde on us (is it a mutant baby or not? does it change back to normal after it's fed? whattup?), I think IT'S ALIVE might have been a passable film. The premise is pretty solid, and the fact that it's a mother (as opposed to a father) who is willing to cover up for her child's abnormalities, loving it unconditionally, was actually working for me.

As it stands, it's pretty wonky, but seemed like it had potential to be a halfway decent remake, as far as remakes go. Plus, plenty of goofy gore moments that made me laugh. Can't say I recommend it as a "good" movie, but I think it could be a fun watch with a group.

  3. If you haven't already, you might want to check out a movie called Grace. It's another film about a mother and her monstrous baby, but I think it puts a neat spin on the concept.

  4. I have indeed seen it, and it did exactly with the concept what the remake was trying to do.
