  1. Finally got around to The Wolfman, eh? I'll be giving the extended director's cut a look in a week or so. From what I've read, it's apparently much better-paced than the theatrical version.

  2. And yet longer in runtime? Interesting trick if they can pull that off.

I gotta say, too much CGI, and even when they use "live" effects, everything around it is enhanced by CGI. Very handsome looking movie, but I wish they could have had it less slicked up. Plus, Larry Talbot is *such* a downer this time around. I watched the 1941 original immediately beforehand and Chaney is genuinely charming in the early scenes. del Toro is a fine actor, but he's just Gary Glum the entire time. The whole thing was a bit leaden overall, even with all the whizbang. Didn't hate it, but sure didn't love it.

And the whole climax with father vs. son? Didn't we see that scene in the HULK movie a few years back?

  3. We did, indeed.

I saw The Wolfman twice while it was in theaters and the second time especially I noticed plot points that seemed to get glossed over in the name of getting to the next werewolf attack that much quicker. I expect the extended cut goes a long way toward relieving those issues.
