I didn’t really have a “project” director this year (in the past, I’ve focused on the works of folks like Alfred Hitchcock, John Waters, Russ Meyer, Terence Fisher, Robert Altman, etc. Didn’t really seem to be the case this year, although it is worth observing that notables from previous years (Argento, Castle, Corman, Cronenberg, Fulci, Hartley) appeared again this year. One might get the feeling I like these guys…

Finally, to fully satisfy my OCD fixations, I tallied up the 2010 views to see how things broke down in terms of which years/decades ended up being the main focus of the year’s viewing. While there was a marked (and predictable) slant towards recent films, it still turned out to be an interesting examination. I'm not sure if this means anything at all, but here's the data for your perusal.

(Not surprising, since I was either catching up with films I missed in the cinema or seeing 2009 films not yet released to video until 2010) But outside of the 2000s, it was nice to see 1973 and 1974 make strong showings with a dozen views each (and 1972 close behind at an even 10).
Longest streak of seeing at least one film from each year2010-1951 (I was rock solid from 1931 on, then hit a 5-year gap between 1946-1950)

Looking back over my list, I see that I managed to hit every letter of the alphabet save for "X" and "Z." (And somehow I managed to take in three "Q" films: Quadrophenia, Larry Cohen's Q and Fassbinber's Querelle.)

Enjoy them, Aaron. Fassbinder was the director I focused on the most last year, which is why I saw ten of his films (including Berlin Alexanderplatz). I plan on topping that this year. In terms of actors, Paul Naschy probably takes the prize since I saw nine of his films.
