Prepare for the coming CINEPOCALYPSE!!!

Cinepocalypse, Chicago’s premiere festival for electrifying and provocative genre cinema, returns to the Music Box Theatre June 13th for eight days of features, shorts, events and surprises, including eight fantastic break-out world premieres!

We didn't get to partake in much of last year's installment due to theatrical obligations (other than showing up for the Q&A of the world premiere of GAGS), but 2019's schedule is looking bright and we're ready and raring to go. Just in time to start the summer horror season off right, the Music Box Theatre hosts the festival's third go-round under the Cinepocalypse moniker (formerly the Bruce Campbell Horror Film Festival, and all the better for disassociating itself from the Great Chin, in my humble opinion).

Things kick off with the World Premiere of VEROTIKA, Punk/Metal Legend Glenn Danzig's directorial debut.

From the Cinepocalypse press release:

"Glenn’s passion for film, the occult, and all things ghouls ‘n ghosts has long influenced his music, and now he’s taking these elements to the big screen. Featuring a plot shrouded in secrecy, a soundtrack of new Danzig music, and based on the output of his comic book publishing company Verotik — a compound of 'violence' and 'erotic' — this feature film anthology is a realization of his lifelong love of comics and the dark arts. We’ll melt your face off with the world premiere of VEROTIKA on opening night, with Glenn in attendance."

Other highlights include a Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Michael Ironside (Scanners, Starship Troopers, Top Gun), complete with a special 70mm screening of the 1990 sci-fi/action classic TOTAL RECALL, as well as a double feature from this year's Jury President Joel Schumacher (The Lost Boys, St. Elmo’s Fire, Batman Forever): FALLING DOWN on 35mm and a rare 70mm print of FLATLINERS, originally filmed in Chicago.

Members of the heavy metal band GWAR will be on hand for special screenings of some of their wildest short films, as well as playing MS3TK with the 1987 Canadian Metal Turkey, ROCK 'N' ROLL NIGHTMARE! Pollyanna McIntosh (The Walking Dead) makes her directorial debut with DARLIN', a follow-up to Lucky McKee's The Woman, with McIntosh reprising her breakout role, and Chelsea Stardust and Gigi Saul Guerrer present their latest films, CULTURE SHOCK and SATANIC PANIC, respectively.

We'll also see a number of World, North American, and Midwestern premieres, such as Lucky McKee's KINDRED SPIRITS, Eric Power's ATTACK OF THE DEMONS, Dean Kapsalis' THE SWERVE, Eric Liberacki's THE LURKER, Talal Selhami’s Morrocan monster horror ACHOURA, Emilio Portes’ BELZEBUTH, Fabrício Bittar’s GHOST KILLERS VS. BLOODY MARY, award-winning Polish director Bartosz Konopka pagan epic THE MUTE, Joe Begos' latest offering BLISS, and much, much more.

(Yes, they are screening TAMMY AND THE T-REX!!!)

See you in a few weeks, true believers!

Cinepocalypse is thrilled to be supported by the following sponsors: ALTER, Orion, Bloody-Disgusting.com, Shudder, Fangoria, & Vinegar Syndrome.

This year’s poster was designed by visionary heavy metal artist Paul Romano, whose work can be found on hundreds of album covers and frequently collaborates with famed force of musical destruction Mastodon.
